There are plenty of weird pokémon. Some weirder than others. It may be easy for us to picture them in battle or being with a trainer, where they'll move, act and behave the way they do. What's harder to imagine, however, is their natural habitat. Particularly if you're a sentient icecream cone which may have the highest amount of predators possible. Obviously, not all pokémon was designed with proper ecology in mind, but just this once, I wanted to visualise how odd it would be to show highly aesthetic species in an environment they're supposed to live in. And, in the same vein, how nature runs its course.

This strip is somewhat different as the emphasis isn't contained within the last panel alone, and I've gotten many mixed responses to this strip already. So if you happen to not appreciate it, then it's my loss, not yours. And even though the strip may imply so, its purpose was not to beat down on Vanilluxe. I'd be happy if the comments could reflect the same.

Nice take on Vanilluxe and Jynx! Very interesting look at how they would behave in their environment :)

While certain PokeDex entries do mention some Pokemon species live in packs, in the end gameplay is placed in higher regard than "functionality"--and it makes sense; with so many different Pokemon and a random-encounter gameplay style, incorporating a more "natural" approach such as this would only complicate the game unnecessarily.

In the end, the game delivers the Pokemon simplistically (they live in the wild, you find one randomly, end of story), but the backstories are developed further by the player, so "technicalities" (if they can even be called such) such as what you've pointed out here in this comic can be bypassed. For instance, I never pictured Jynx eating the Vanilluxe line because of its basis as a siren or succubus--but for another person, they could think all Pokemon are after Vanilluxe to eat. By choosing to not elaborate on such matters, a player can better create their own world with their own imaginations, thus creating a more immersive experience.

They are especially weak against Alakazam. You know, two spoons and all.

Hell.... that is so hilarious!

You are right! Some people (and I think the inventors at top) do not really spot that Pokémon live also as wild creatures... A shame

I like all the different faces and expression you gave the Vanilluxe, it's especially interesting to see the elderly Vanilluxe XD

And gah those Jynx in the last panel! As if Jynx didn't give me nightmares already...

The way you handled the almost monochromatic palette here is well done. You have also picked up on the nuances that help make what classifies as documentary, particularly those focusing on nature. It's a nice approach.

Oh Arceus!!! I laughed harder at this than I think is legal!!! XD

But at least Lick has a chance at paralysis so they may not feel anything when they are eaten.

And I'm waiting very patiently for that Steel-Type Spoon Pokemon that'll naturally be super-effective on those Ice Cream Beasts o.o

Wait...

Why not just give Kadabra and Alakazam a spoon attack? Doesn't even have to be physical...
