Fear of Change by Bummerdude Fear of Change by Bummerdude
I may have reached the point where I'm no longer looking for strange stuff in the games, and instead focuses on what's NOT there. Troubling, to an extent, but it makes for neat ideas. It's also nice returning to my usual style, playing with colors is fun!

The first panel is a bit inspired from the classic Red and Blue games where the cartridge forced you to evaluate your belongings every now and then to make room for new stuff you were sure to find, although the weight limit would take all of that one step further. Which, if you're a young teenager intent on plundering the world, may not work out too well. And yes, that IS an iron ball.

The other two panels should be fairly self explanatory. The Fly animation does run pretty fast, but I would find it to be a major inconvenience to watch my character fly over pixelated terrain before landing every time I needed to go places. I suppose I'm breaking the fourth wall here, and then breaking what's left of it again, but I should have it rebuilt until the next update.

Edit: Several people have thus far reminded me that there is a line when you wait for Casteliacones in B/W. There may be even more lines, but I can only assume that they don't prevent enjoying the game in the same fashion as the line depicted in the above strip. So while they do exist, it's not the point I was trying to make. Or actually, it was. IT'S A STUPID GAME ANYWAY

This would be a real pain for me since I have 19 heavy stones, fly everywhere, and heal every 10 minuets.

You know what's weird? I play Red version now and my backpack and item box fill up SO quickly. I honestly don't remember ever running out of space like that when I first played the game. Which is weird because I don't remember dropping/selling or even using a lot of items when I was like 9. I just picked stuff up and never looked at it again.
Arisu95 Featured By Owner Oct 22, 2014
Same here! I recently played Yellow again and I had a lot of trouble deciding what to keep and what to drop/sell, and I don't remember having such issues when I played it as a kid!

Flying in real time is now a thing in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Although, it's only possible with Mega Latias and Latios. It's called 'Soar'.

Pokemon MD has a inventory limit, at least the one I am currently playing. ;-;

the firstone was the worsts, you only could have 2 pahes. Explorers series finally expanded that more. but it also seems the 3DS version got it between the 2 again. also a LOT harder to find poke

Most places in Pokemon seem to have less than ten people living in them. Exceptions such as Castelia City are not included in this observation.

How about paying the pokemon center to heal your pokemon? EACH OF THEM

Black/White2 have lines for casteliacones after you become champion.
Your nightmare is coming true. O_o

in Black/White 1, I don't think there was ever a line, but when you got there, the man always claims to have sold the last one.
NinjaYoshi585 Featured By Owner Oct 19, 2014  Student Writer
In b and w 1 there was a short line :)

Oh. *derp*
Even so, it always seemed that they sold the last ice cream when I got there.

You forgot realistic battles. You might get hit by a stray attack. Or pokemon.

Actually, if you DID have the option of watching your character fly over the region to your destination, that might actually be pretty cool.

In one of my Pokemon games (I think Sapphire) the inventory can actually get full and it's annoying, although I don't think that happens in recent games.
EricLeee Featured By Owner Oct 7, 2013  Student Digital Artist
the horror message:The bag's full!
it happens on almost every game
Skyder117 Featured By Owner Dec 9, 2012  Student Digital Artist
anyone else think that all the people in front of you in that line to the pokecenter would be all the trainers whose asses you kicked on the way to the town? Most of them would need burn treatment from facing your lvl 100 blaziken, or to be put back together after your Gyrados blew its limbs off with a hyper beam.

just saiyan

Lines definitely suck in pokemon games...I have to get in line to get ice cream, only to realize that they're out and I have to get there on a tuesday for a shorter line...

In my games with my inventory, I'm pretty much a walking pawnshop. If it's useless to me, I sell it. Very profitable. Except when your last 'mon is low on PP with all moves during the battle with Cynthia. DAMN YOU, LACK OF FORETHOUGHT!
SeafoamIslander Featured By Owner Oct 1, 2012
Hey, but lines exist in the ice cream queue...
Aritimas Featured By Owner Jul 27, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
There ARE lines in Black and White ono You have to line up for the castellia cone

I love your comics, they're all hilarious! :)
It would also be pretty awful if you had to feed your party pokemon regularly, like they do in the anime. Just another thing that you'd have to spend money on.

love how you drew the Fearow! It's one of my favorite flying pokemon 'cause it tooks like a terror basilisk bird. But i never use it... D:

What about the whole Trainer size to flying pokemon size ratio just being able to fly on a pigey is rediculous.

But oh god I hated the limit with items even with the PCs help. I had items I didn't want to get rid of yet I had to make the choice orz.

But here's the big problem: where does he store the bike(s)?
PkMnTrainerEdgar Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2012
The bikes are foldable, or so they say.
Tsuki-no-Rakuen Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
But then again NOT all of the bikes said the folded D: Though I must say for B/W My trainer must be fighting fit because I think she runs faster then biking.
PkMnTrainerEdgar Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2012
Not all the bikes had descriptions before. Besides, it's Pokémon. Fuck logic.
Tsuki-no-Rakuen Featured By Owner Apr 19, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist

:icondawhatplz: you have a point there. Pokemon has not logic. In fact its fridge logic.

If you have a realistic flight time,I think it would go with :
"Birdy use Fly"
*Pokémon scream*
"Time : 2 hours.Come back after!"

Player : :iconwaitplz:

Lines.... With a poisned pokemon \o\ have funnnn
Queer-Robot Featured By Owner Apr 12, 2012  Student Digital Artist
I personally think the worst one would be having to wait hours for your pokemon to heal like in the TV show

but realistic flight time would drive me insane
PkMnTrainerEdgar Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2012
Lol when I was little, I loved the anime so much that I thought "Why don't they let you explore the PokéCenter while my Pokémon heal??"
Though your comic DID make me think of something funny about the games too. You can feel free to incorporate this if you want haha.

I always loved Fresh Water, Soda Pop, and Lemonade for being cheaper then Super Potion AND more effective, but the problem remains: do you heal a pokemon like Slugma with it?
Haha, the line in Castelia isn't nearly as annoying to me as the fact it's only on Tuesdays that you can GET in line for one.

So I can only get one ice cream cone a week that heals the same way as a Full Heal? Lame. At least in R/S/E the lady who sold cookies let you buy as many as you want, it was just a pain of buying a single cookie at a time. Though it was cheaper too.

*inset bitching and moaning about small things in every single game*
